The share of individuals taking generic calcium channel blockers (CCBs), among the ones suffering from hypertension and taking CCBs, in Italy increased considerably between 2006 and 2021. According to the data, in fact, the share of people choosing generic over brand-name CCBs was just below four percent as of 2006, while by 2021 this figure reached almost 27 percent, more than six times its original value.
