In 2019, the economic cost of terrorism in Nigeria covered 2.4 percent of the country's GDP, a decrease by 0.3 percentage points compared to the previous year. Nigeria has the highest terrorism threat level in Africa as it is one of the firsts in the world. Furthermore, Nigeria's political, economic, and social instabilities have led to violence and deaths. Several militant groups are active in Nigeria, leading to attacks on both civilian and military targets. Boko Haram is the deadliest terrorist group, a jihadist terrorist organization.
