Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, restaurant-related technologies took on added importance for consumers in the United States. As of August 2020, restaurant guests were asked about what technologies they considered to be most important when deciding to visit a restaurant. In total, 37 percent of respondents rated drive through availability as "extremely important", suggesting that the drive-thru continues to be a crucial component for restaurant guests in the United States.
