Leading countries in renewable electricity generation in Africa 2020
Egypt registered the largest output of electricity generation from renewable sources in Africa as of 2020. Renewables-generated electricity in the country reached nearly 18 terawatt hours that year. South Africa followed closely, with an output of around 16 terawatt hours. Overall, electricity generation from renewables in Africa has been increasing. The continent's output more than doubled in the last two decades, reaching 174 terawatt hours in 2020.
