Japan: common in-store payment methods 2022

In a survey conducted in December 2022, around 62 percent of respondents in Japan stated that they normally used card-based payment methods, such as credit and debit cards, or electronic money smart cards, when paying in stores. About 54 percent of consumers reported paying with cash.
