Share of women among first-time students to higher education 2020, by type of degree
Across almost all OECD countries, there was a higher share of women than men among the new first-time students in 2020, regardless of which type of degree they started. Short-cycle programs were the only where, in some countries. the share of female entrants was below 50 percent. This reflects a general trend across developed countries that women tend to reach higher levels of education than that of men.
