Nonprofit organizations have been increasing social media usage to attract new donors and advertise their services. Between 2021 and 2022, nonprofit organizations in the U.S. experienced the most significant increase in their Instagram following. Environmental organizations reported a one percent increase in their Twitter following, compared with a nine percent increase in their Instagram following. The subsector that reported the highest increase in Instagram followers was the disaster and international aid sector, with a 16 percent increase between 2021 and 2022.
