Africa wealth distribution 2021, by region
In 2021, Southern Africa's richest 10 percent held around 85 percent of the total wealth. Furthermore, the richest one percent in the region held over 54 percent. The other African regions had a slightly smaller share of wealth with the wealthiest people. For instance, in West Africa, the richest 10 percent held close to 64 percent of the wealth, while the richest one percent held 28 percent. On the other hand. The poorest 50 percent in all the regions held lower than three percent of the wealth.
