Downloads of domestic crypto app Bitvavo in the Netherlands were much higher than those of foreign wallets. This is according to an estimate using roughly 190 different apps that offer a crypto wallet function from across the world. Wallets are but one type of app that interacts with decentralized digital assets, although it can be difficult to separate the different applications from each other. Crypto wallets are often used for crypto storage, and less so for payments. Payment aggregators such as BitPay allow for such a feat, converting crypto payments on a seller's website to fiat currency before sending the latter to the merchant. Not all payment aggregators offer apps, however.

This statistic is the result of research into over 190 different apps used for BNPL across the world. For more information, see the "Details" tab; The 15 apps on display here made up 83.2 percent of all downloads in Q4 2023

* Some of the apps under review are not necessarily a "pure" wallet: The Binance app, for example, doubles as a crypto exchange as well as a wallet.
The names provided are based off multiple publications covering cryptocurrency apps, and focus on apps with a wallet function. If an app does not feature in the statistic, it is because download figures were too small. Note, however, that the selection of players is not exhaustive as it cryptocurrency is not tracked centrally and results may differ depending on one's definition.
