United States: general merchandise store sales 1992-2021

In 2021, general merchandise store sales amounted to about 804.29 billion U.S. dollars in the United States, of which roughly 100 billion corresponded to discount department stores. Since 1992, sales of general merchandise stores which includes department stores, discount department stores, warehouse clubs and supercenters, and other general merchandise stores, have continuously increased over the years.
