This statistic illustrates the extent of insulation in dwellings in England from 2008 to 2018, broken down by measure. All measures of improving the energy efficiency of dwellings saw an increase over the period. The most common measure throughout these years was full double glazing, increasing from 70.8 percent of dwellings in 2008 to 85.3 percent of dwellings having full double glazing in 2018. Use of cavity or solid wall insulation also increased during this time period, reaching a share of 49.3 percent of dwellings in 2018. Finally, loft insulation usage saw the largest increase at 17 percent, having risen from 21.1 percent of dwellings in 2008 to 38.1 percent of dwellings in 2018.
