Number of mobile gamers in China 2012-2022
The mobile gaming scene in China experienced an upward surge between 2014 and 2019. The number of mobile gamers peaked at around 656 million in 2021 and decreased slightly in 2022. Its growth was projected to slow down in the coming years .

As per the results of a survey on the distribution of mobile game users conducted in 2020, a majority of players were concentrated in tier-2 cities of China, such as Chengdu and Wuhan. Gaming is not just for the young generation. About a third of mobile game users were above 40 years old.
