Hospital beds in Lithuania 2001-2020
The number of hospital beds available in Lithuania decreased to 16,802 beds since the previous year. Therefore, 2020 marks the lowest number of hospital beds available during the observed period. Notably, the number of hospital beds available has been, with the exception of 2011, continuously decreasing over the last years.
According to the OECD's definition, the number of total hospital beds includes all regularly staffed and maintained available patient beds, regardless of their occupied or unoccupied status. Beds in both generalist and specialized hospitals are included, while, for example, beds in residential and nursing care facilities are excluded.
