Monthly unemployment rate in Italy 2019-2020, by gender
In December 2020, the unemployment rate in Italy stood at 8.3 percent for men and 10 percent for women. Between January 2019 and April 2020, the unemployment figures in Italy experienced a decrease. Thereafter, figures grew again, reaching the highest rates in summer 2020.
Substancial regional differences exist within the country's unemployment rate . In particular, Sicily, Calabria, and Campania registered the largest unemployed population. On the contrary, most of the regions recording the lowest unemployment rates were situated in the North. For instance, in Lombardy the share of unemployed people was around four percent.
