Norway outperforms the market on electric vehicle sales
Norway's electric vehicle market share is unparalleled. Battery electric vehicles account for the largest passenger car segment in Norway: In 2023, battery electric vehicles accounted for approximately 82.4 percent of car sales in Norway. At the same time, diesel- and gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for only about 3.6 percent of sales in Norway in 2023.
Norway is charging up on electric infrastructure
There were around 23,800 publicly available electric vehicle stations for electric cars in Norway in 2022, an increase of some 23.3 percent on 2021. Akershus and Oslo lead in terms of demand. These counties had the highest number of passenger car registrations in Norway in 2022.
