Electric bike sales volume in Italy 2018-2021
Who is using e-bikes?
The Italians most likely to use an an e-bike, including buying, hiring, and borrowing a bike, are between 35 and 44 years old, followed by 45 to 54 year-olds. Italians who are already cycling one to two days a week are most interested in buying or using an e-bike but interest is also relatively high among those who never cycle, compared to more regular cyclists. Electric bicycles may represent a valid solution to fight pollution and to act against global warming. In Italy, this matches the perception that e-bikes are primarily for environmentally-conscious people.
Cyling in Italy
Over a third of Italians ride a bike at least once a week and cycling is the first choice of transport for short journeys for around 13 percent of Italians. While this does not put Italians among the Europeans most likely to cycle, Italians are more likely to cycle than people in France or the UK.
