Gross box office revenue in Russia August 2024, by film
"Neprimetnaya Istoriya" (in Russian: "Неприметная история") had the largest gross box office in Russia in August 2024, at approximately 257 million Russian rubles. The second-ranking film in that month was "Longlegs." Several major international film distributors, including Disney, Sony Pictures, and Warner Bros, stopped screening their films in Russia in response to its invasion of Ukraine. However, some film companies have started offering a pre-session service, where viewers get shown a foreign movie first, for free, and then a domestic one, which they purchased a ticket for. In some cases, the domestic film is a short one.
