Brexit is 'going badly' - who's to blame?
Brexit
In response to Prime Minister May's newly announced plan to negotiate towards a decidedly softer Brexit - including a free-trade area with the EU and identical food regulations - Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, David Davis, has resigned. As if the Brexit process wasn't proving difficult enough for the UK government, Davis' resignation has plunged May's party and its plan for exiting the EU into utter disarray. As a recent YouGov poll shows, even before this weekend's events, the majority of the public felt Brexit was 'going badly'.
Taking the most blame for this, as our chart shows, is indeed the government with 68 percent of respondents pointing their fingers in this direction. The second most popular target is the EU, but the team on the other side of the negotiating table only attracted 37 percent of the shared blame.
