In response to a speech by Iranian president Hassan Rouhani in which he said: “Mr Trump, don’t play with the lion’s tail, this would only lead to regret”, adding: "America should know that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace, and war with Iran is the mother of all wars”, President Trump unleashed an extraordinary all-caps tweet, warning of "consequences the likes of which few throughout history have ever suffered before” should he threaten the U.S. again. And, as a recent Gallup poll shows, a large proportion of the U.S. public are presumably behind the president's stance. When asked how they view certain countries, only North Korea came ahead of Iran in the category 'enemy'.
