According to numbers by the OECD the cost of living in the UK became a lot lower in the last 17 years compared with the EU average. Even though the UK with 117.4 still is above the EU average, it at least fell from a stonking 137,3 in the year 2000. It therefore resembles the only country in the study where consumer prices fell rather than increased in recent years.
