New figures from Eurostat have revealed the incredible importance of small, or even micro, business to the economy of the European Union. As this infographic shows, 'large' enterprises which employ over 249 people account for one third of all employees in the EU. Close behind in second place though are 'micro' enterprises which keep almost 30 percent of people in work. The latest available employment rate for the EU was 67.7 percent in 2017.
