Monuments under the ASI in India are categorized geographically under circles for conservation and maintenance, while some are ticketed. There were 3,686 monuments and sites in these circles as of 2019, of which 116 were ticketed. In that year, domestic tourists visiting centrally protected ticketed monuments decreased by 8.3 percent from the previous year, this was an increase of almost 4.4 percent among foreigners.
