Music streaming revenue in Hungary 2016-2023
From 2016 to 2023, the music streaming revenue in Hungary showed a rising trend, growing from 979 million to 7.4 billion forints. Over the observed period, the revenue from streaming international music peaked in 2023 at 4.95 billion forints, compared to 747 million forints recorded in 2016.
All generations stream music
While a couple of years ago music streaming was only typical among younger people, nowadays all generations of Hungarians listen to music via streaming platforms. In 2022, 45 percent of Hungarians between the ages of 18 to 29 years streamed music on a weekly basis, while, in the age group of 30 to 39-year-olds, this figure totaled 32 percent. Moreover, nearly 20 percent of 50 to 59-year-old Hungarians used music streaming services weekly.
Hungarian men prefer YouTube Music
In 2022, approximately 20 percent of Hungarian men and 11 percent of women used YouTube Music, making it the most popular music streaming platform. In the case of Spotify users, there was not such a notable difference between genders, as it was used by 14 percent of men and 10 percent of women. At the same time, SoundCloud, Apple Music, and Deezer were more popular among women.
