According to a survey conducted among brands advertising on Amazon in the United States between December 2020 and January 2021, 51 percent of third-party brands (3P) - functioning directly as a retailer and selling directly to buyers through the marketplace - said they experienced a return of 7x or more, while 31 percent of first-party brands (1P) - functioning as wholesale suppliers with the marketplace functioning as a retailer - said they experienced a return of 7x or more.
