Chickens were the largest species of livestock in Kenya as of 2020. That year, there were around 59 million heads of chickens in the country. Goats followed, with approximately 32 million heads. Moreover, Kenya summed 24.8 million heads of sheep and some 22.8 million heads of cattle.
