Net migration rate in South Korea 2021, by region
In 2021, Sejong experienced the highest net rate of internal migration with 2.9 percent. Sejong, which was founded in 2007, and has been undergoing constant construction since, is intended to become the new capital by 2030. This makes it an attractive new destination for many. Generally, internal migration patterns for South Korea showed a general trend to migrate northwards, and out of major cities.
