In a survey conducted in July 2021 in Japan, 46.3 percent of respondents stated the expectation that no surge in the number of COVID-19 cases after the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics is going to occur. This was respondents' leading expectation regarding the events, followed by a safe ending of the events, and the improvement of Japan's economy.
