In 2021, the share of e-commerce gross merchandise value (GMV) paid by cards in Southeast Asia amounted to 42.7 billion U.S. dollars. It was forecasted to reach nearly 94 billion U.S. dollars in 2026. Moreover, GMV generated by Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) payments were projected to grow rapidly by 2026, compared to 2021.
