Global CO₂ emissions per capita from coal use 2022, by country
The UK was a major coal consumer at the beginning of the 20th century. However, coal use in the UK has been on a downward trend for roughly seven decades, which has seen per capita coal emissions fall to just 0.29 metric tons of CO₂ per person, well below the global average.
