As revealed by recent Pew Research Center analysis, the average age of first-time mothers is increasing in developed nations, with women increasingly choosing to postpone this stage of their lives. While this is also the case in the U.S. the average age is still one of the lowest among OECD countries. The United States 26.4 years compares to 31.4 in South Korea. Looking at a more directly comparable society, Canadian women become mothers with an average age of 28.5. The figure for the UK is similar - 28.7.
