Eurostat has released new data showing caesarean births as a percentage of live births in EU countries. They were performed at least 1.4 million times across the EU in 2017, occurring most frequently in Cyprus at 54.8 percent of all live births. It was followed by Romania with 44.1 percent and Bulgaria with 43.1 percent. They occur least in Finland at just 16.5 percent of all live births.
