The United Kingdom is building 17% of Europe’s new hotels in 2022, making it the largest country market for hotel construction in Europe. Germany follows with a share of 15%. The European tourism industry is only slowly recovering from the devastating impact brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. After International tourist arrivals to Europe dropped to 180 million in 2020, they are expected to rebound to 290 million in 2022, however, this is still falls far behind the 579 million reached in 2019, just before the pandemic.
