When it comes to imposing tourist taxes to reduce tourism density, a YouGov online survey of Europeans shows that support for such initiatives is mixed. Spain and Denmark demonstrate the strongest backing for taxing tourists, with 54% and 53% of respondents, respectively, endorsing the measure. Conversely, almost 40% of respondents in Spain and Denmark oppose the use of tourist taxes to combat overtourism and although slightly more people are in favour than against in all countries except Italy, the margin is narrow accross the board.
