Global annual electricity expenditure by region 1990-2023

Since 1997, spending on electricity projects in Latin America and the Caribbean has been higher than that of any other region. In 2010, South Asia overtook East Asia and the Pacific to become the second-highest investor in energy projects, lasting until 2014.
