General Motors' workforce was cut by some 25,000 employees over four years before employee figures increased in 2021 and 2022.

Globally, Volkswagen Group employed around 676,000 people in 2023, up from 669,000 in 2022. During a press conference in 2019, Volkswagen announced that there would be a reduction in workforce between 2019 and 2023, but employee figures increased in both 2022 and 2023.
