Asus PC shipment share worldwide 2011-2022, by quarter

In the fourth quarter of 2022, Asus had a market share of 7.5 percent of global PC unit shipments, up from 6.7 percent in the same quarter of the previous year. Asus is in the second tier of PC vendors together with Apple and Acer, who each have had a market share of six to ten percent over the past few years. Combined, they have around 20 percent of the market, as the top three vendors (HP, Lenovo, and Dell) account for around two thirds of PC shipments.

Strong PC player facing changing market

Overall, PC sales have decreased in the past decade to 2019 which has led to a more consolidated market. The three top vendors have increased their share of the PC market, as the share of smaller vendors has continuously decreased. The shift in the market has caused many companies to develop strategies for adapting to the changing market with new products and services. While many PC vendors have gone into IT, cloud and software services, Asus is focusing on the gaming audience in need of high performing gaming PCs by developing niche and specialized hardware products. As the PC segment makes up about two thirds of Asus’s revenue, their strategy is to focus on the regional markets which bring in the most revenue for the company. In India, for example, Asus is the gaming laptop brand with the largest market share, at around 40 percent in the first quarter of 2019.
