Vodka generated increasing revenues in German food retail, with almost 594.5 million euros recorded in 2020. This was an increase compared to 2019.

Germany has a thriving spirits market and vodka comes in second in terms of production volume, at over 647.5 hectoliters in 2020. It was overtaken by bitter, half-bitter and herbal liqueurs. Vodka had a 16 percent market share in Germany. While it wasn’t, as mentioned above, the most consumed alcoholic beverage among Germans in general, it was the most popular alcoholic drink among millennials.

Leading importers

Though the leading importer of vodka worldwide is the U.S., Germany is among the top five European countries importing the beverage. It’s also on the list of leading importers of specifically Russian vodka.
