Number of Dutch films selected at international film festivals 2011-2021
Throughout 2021, 872 films made in the Netherlands were selected at international movie festivals, up nine percent from 796 productions a year earlier. Yet the 2021 figure amounted to little more than 60 percent of the 1,435 Dutch titles featured across the globe in 2019, before the pandemic. The number of movie theaters in the Netherlands surpassed 280 in 2021.
