Strong Support For A Burqa Ban In Germany

The German Chancellor Angela Merkel has called for full-face veils to be banned "wherever it is legally possible". This so-called 'burqa ban' is already in force in neighboring France and as our infographic below shows, support in Germany is pretty strong for the country to follow suit. 62 percent of the German YouGov respondents said they think a law should be introduced to ban the wearing of a full body and face veil. The same sentiment appears to be leading in the UK, too, with 57 percent in favor. There is a marked difference in the U.S., however, where only 27 percent are of this view.
