This statistic depicts the results of a survey conducted in July 2018 about the implementation rate of dress codes across companies in Japan. During the surveyed period, around 30 percent of respondents stated that their company restrict the clothing choices, but employees are basically free to chose.

*"Cool biz" refers to a campaign launched in 2005 by the Japanese Ministry of Environment as an effort to reduce electricity consumption during summer time in Japan. Part of the campaign was to introduce a liberal summer dress code in order to allow a reduction of air conditioner usage in offices across Japan.
