According to a survey conducted among South Korean comic readers in 2023, around 7.8 percent of respondents stated that they read comics once or twice a week. About 67 percent hardly ever read printed comics. Comics, or manhwa, are popular in South Korea, and are mostly read in a digital format now in form of webtoons.
