According to a survey conducted in November 2019 among locals of the 47 prefectures in Japan, married couples residing in Hokkaido were the happiest in the country, rating their harmony level at 76.9 points on average. Furthermore, the survey revealed that with an average score of only 59.1 points the satisfaction level among married couples was the lowest in Tottori prefecture.

Survey participants were asked to rate their happiness as a couple on a scale ranging from 0 to 100 points, with 100 points representing entire satisfaction.
