According to a survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in May 2021 in the Philippines, 56 percent of respondents stated that they subscribed to a video-on-demand service because it offered a larger variety of content in comparison to cable and satellite TV. Other main reasons for subscribing to a streaming service provider among Filipino respondents were the ability to enjoy video content ad-free as well as the flexibility for watching content that such streaming services provide.
