Number of SVOD subscriptions in the Nordics 2018-2023, by platform

Subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) subscriptions increased across platforms in the Nordic region from 2018 to 2021, and is expected to rise further by 2023. For instance, the most popular streaming service Netflix had million subscriptions in the region in 2018. This number is forecasted to increase to nearly by the end of 2023. The second most used SVOD service is Nordic Entertainment Group's Viaplay, with million subscriptions as of 2021. Although Disney+ came third that year, the expected Discovery-Warner Media merger could rival the top three, with HBO Max and Discovery+ reaching the third place by the end of 2022.
