Sectorial distribution of climate finance for mitigation in Africa 2010-2019
The energy sector received the highest amount of cumulative climate finance for mitigation dedicated to Africa between 2010 and 2019. It accounted for roughly 40 percent of the total finance flow for climate change mitigation. Transport and storage received 11 percent of the financing amount in the same period, while 10 percent went to the agriculture sector. Overall, Africa has been the second-highest beneficiary of climate finance flows worldwide, just behind Asia.
