Changing to lower-priced products was Japanese consumers' leading measure to counter food price inflation. According to a survey conducted in October 2023, almost 60 percent of respondents switched to less expensive food products. Reducing eating out expenditure followed as the second most common option to reduce the burden from food price hikes.
