According to Statista's Consumer Insights survey, 31 percent of people in France recently believed that terrorism was one of the country's greatest challenges, higher than in most other European countries. In 2022, this share had been even larger at 33 percent. Ten years ago this week, a string of terror attacks claimed by ISIS shook Paris, killing 137 people. In January of the same year, a deadly attack had been carried out at the offices of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. It seems that fear of terror acts has remained elevated in the country since then.
Colombians, Indians and Germans are also among the most worried about such attacks, as islamists, insurgents and other extremist groups and individuals continue to operate in different parts of the world.
In comparison, Americans and Brits were slightly less concerned, at 19 percent in each country saying terrorism was a major issue. A low threat level was seen by respondents in Canada, Japan and China.
