Artificial Intelligence is quickly becoming a common tool for job applications, used by 70 percent of adults in the U.S. and 64 percent in the UK in the last 24 months according to a new representative survey from Statista+ conducted in January 2026.
As our infographic shows, the options offered by the use of AI for job applications are varied and cover parts of the entire process. The most commonly used tools in the United States and the UK were large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, favored by 73 percent of Americans and 86 percent of Brits. In second position in the U.S. came CV and cover letter generators such as Canva, Kickresume and Adobe, cited by 58 percent of respondents in the country, while the second most popular tools in the UK were text and document optimizers such as Grammarly and LanguageTool (46 percent).
While AI adoption was pretty high in both countries, doubts seemed to exist concerning the technology. Indeed, around six out of ten respondants in both countries said applicants should be careful to use AI in such a way that it can't be identified.
