According to a survey conducted in 2019 by Rakuten Insight on consumer behavior in Japan, more than 48 percent of male respondents stated that they drank non-alcoholic beer because they had to drive. Male respondents gave this answer twice as likely as female counterparts. Similarly, women depended on non-alcoholic beer when they were expected to drink but did not want to lose control over themselves twice as much as men in the same situation.
