The aggregate attendance at surveyed not-for-profit theaters in the United States shrunk in the 2021 fiscal year due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Between October 1, 2020 and September 30, 2021, the aggregate attendance was around 8.6 million, the lowest figure reported since the 2017 fiscal year.
